Checking out Pine Lake Utah for camping. Checking out Pine Lake Utah for camping. I just took a drive the other day to check out Pine Lake for future camping. It is just north of Hwy. 12 at the Bryce Canyon turnoff. Go north for about 10 miles. Then turn right to Pine Lake for another 7 miles. When you get there you are in heaven. Photo shows the lake which is about 1/4 mile from the campground. There is water, pit toilets and the site are spread out so you are not to close to your neighbors. Kolob Reservoir area of upper Zion National Park. If one has not traveled up Kolob Reservoir road. This drive is great if you are in the area. You can start your trip at either end – Cedar City Hwy 14 Rt. Hand Canyon turn off or Virgin on Hwy 9. Around the lake is primitive camping. Trout is in the lake so you can catch some big ones. Spring and fall are the best times for color. In the spring you will see amazing fields of flowers everywhere and in the fall you will have your mind blown by the fall colors everywhere on the mountain.
